RE: What's a fair price? '05 Intruder

Hi, I bought a Motorhome from Hitch House quite a few years ago. I dealt with Derek. He has worked for them for many years. He is very fair and good to deal with. I am attaching a link to a dealer here on Vancouver Island to give you an idea of prices.http://www.arbutusrv.ca/arbutusrv/index.php?t=6680&pg=1
Damon make a better unit these days compared to the 1997 Ultrasport that I owned back then. Now I am close to buying a 2003 Pace Arrow priced in the mid 60's.

RE: Generator for new motorhome

Hi Anne,
Take a trip over to Fennell's in Langford. They do alot of RV repairs. They might be able to install a genny for you cheaper than the dealer. I like your dealer too but they in the business to make money. I would be surprised if they can beat Fennell's
Good Luck.

Big Foot

Just read on a RV Industry blog that Big Foot Industries has closed their doors. No further details available. The blog writer confirmed it with the telephone receptionist.
It looks like Canada is running out of RV manufacture's

2003 Pace Arrow

We are looking at a 2003 Pace Arrow 35B on a Workhorse chassis 8.1 ltr, Allison.
Any thoughts about this unit. It looks really good inside, a nice layout for the two of us. Also what kind of gas mileage can I expect. We have been told about 8 mpg. Is this right.
Cheers, from the Wet Coast.

RE: First Posting

Welcome to this forum. We also live on the island. We tow a Zeppelin TT with an Envoy. I think my wife and I met you both last summer at Weir's Beach. I am currently considering buying a Forest River C Class motorhome sometime this winter.
Are you satisfied with your unit and are you pleased with Peden?
Cheers

RE: Forest River Sunseeker

I am looking at the Forester 2651S. It has only one slide but a massive storage area in the rear. We are waiting until the new year when my SUV is paid off. It will not be a full time unit but most weekends and the odd week trip. I have looked at other C's and I like how these look and I believe the 08 F-450 is a good base truck.

RE: Citation/Corsair Owners?

We are looking to buy the Citation 31CKDS. I think its 13,400 GVW. I guess I have to look for a Dually to tow this. We will be selling our home and going full time. I have never towed a fiver but have a 25ft TT which I tow with our SUV ( see sig ). I have owned several TT's and MH's. I just tell my wife that a dually is like a 22ft C class without the sides.
I have read that Citation makes a really good live-aboard unit. I was looking at a Big Sky but I really do not think they are as well built as what General Coach make.

Citation/Corsair Owners?

Hi, I am looking to buy a Citation fifth wheel next spring and I am looking to chat with owners of Citation/Corsair owners. I want to be sure that the 5'er that I am looking at will be well matched with the Truck I am looking at.

Colibert fifth wheel hitch

Hi all,
I am looking around at various hitch systems for an upcoming purchase of a fifth wheel and 1 ton truck. I was at a local dealer today and he showed me the Colibert Hitch for a long bed truck. Do any of you use this unit as I have never heard of them?
Cheers for now

RE: What Truck to Buy?

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate them. We will indeed look at a dually. Last weekend I spoke to a full timer who tows a similar trailer with his Dually and he also said the wider stance would make driving up and down mountains and winding roads alot easier.
So again thanks.
The fifth wheel trailer that I am looking to buy is a 2008 Citation 31CKDS, its made by General Coach in Canada.

What Truck to Buy?

Hi all,
I am looking ideas as to what truck to buy. We are looking to buy a FW with the following spec's: Length: 32.4'. GVWR: 13,600 LBS. Dry WT: 11,200 LBS. Hitch WT: 2,155 LBS. NCC: 2,330 LBS. We will be living in it Full Time and traveling alot. The truck will be our only vehicle.
So what I am looking for is; do I need a dually or will a 1 ton SW do?
Thanks for your help here. I can always ask the dealer but I prefer the experienced RV'er opinion.

Citation. 34 RLTS. FW..What Truck

HI,
I have been looking at various RV's for full time living. Everything from Class 'A's to FW's. I saw this FW yesterday and now I am trying to figure out what kind of truck would be required to tow this FW. The GVWR is:15,500. DW is: 12,820 and Hitch Weight is:2,302. Can I get away with a SRW or do I HAVE to go with the DRW. We would only have one driving vehicle, so I really am cautious about wanting to drive a dually around town. I did ask the Salesman and he suggested DRW. If we buy this size of unit, we will park it for 6 months before we buy a truck. So we have lots of time to consider a tow vehicle.
thanks for the replies and assistance
Cheers.
p.s. I posted this in Towing but I think it should be over here too.

RE: Memberships

A friend of mine paid 1,500 then pays 200 a year. That was 4 years ago. His home park is in Utah. He has never been there yet. He dropped C to C. Kept RPI and AOR. I know the cost has gone from 4 years ago to 2,200. I am waiting for the information package to arrive. I will not make any decisions until I am good and ready, if at all. LIke you I like to camp where I want. I know many of the membership parks are in remote areas or are older parks. But we'll see.

RE: Memberships

Thanks for the reply Phil. I can see now that as long as you are traveling FT this type of membership could work, but when you either sell the unit or just park in one place due to health, then the annual cost of the membership would make this costly. This will give me something to think about. However whatever we decide upon, we will not rush into a agreement.
Thanks

RE: Memberships

Thanks for almost all the replies. It is good information. For the one who likes to plow right in! When I do a search on any particular subject I usually get 10 or more answers to questions that I am not looking for. Then I have to sort out the right answer. Sometimes its easier just to ask questions to you all who have more experience on the various subjects.
Again thanks

Memberships

Hi,
I am looking for information on membership parks. I have been in contact with a chap who sells them in the US. I gather you buy into a home park and then get to stay at other associated parks. C to C, AOR, RPI. Cost seem reasonable.
We are considering going full time next year and I wondered if buying into this kind of membership would be beneficial. It's only the wife and I, we have no children to give it to when we decide to stop travelling.
All thoughts would be appreciated.

RE: Cummins Engine

What is the best way to learn about diesel engines for Class A's. Recently I asked a question about a Dutch Star with a 300hp. In replies I read about "ISC" and "ISL". I don't understand this. Also what else should I learn to understand the differences from a regular Gas engine, in an RV?
Thanks for listening,
Cheers

RE: Parked or Travelling

What made me ask the original question was that when we drive through many parks we see fifth wheel's with no truck, usually a small car. Is this because they have settled down and sold the truck, or is it because they never intended to travel? Perhaps they merely wanted to live in a RV and not have the responsibility of owning a bricks and mortar home. I would like to believe that we would spend part of the spring or fall here in BC, travel around Canada through the summer and then head south for the winter. Again staying no longer than a month at any given park. This is only the opinion of my wife and I, but we are both agreed on this. She doesn't call me Wanderlust for nothing.
Cheers
